Guidance from Kali

I mentioned in a previous post that I had found Oracle decks that centered around the Hindu god Lord Ganesha and the goddess Kali Maa.

In this post, I will share my experience with the deck simply called Kali Oracle. I must admit, many of the images are terrifying, but they are also beautiful in their own way.

Working with this deck has been a blessing. The progression along my path has been surprisingly gentle, and I have had some beautiful revelations in working with it.

The guidebook contains a lot of information about the goddess on the card, because each card is a different goddess that is another face of Kali or another close relation to Kali. The intricacies of the Hindu belief system when it comes to their deities is so complex and convoluted to Westerners who don't understand how the religion works. I do not pretend to understand.

I would like to assert that I do not consider myself Hindu or have any intention of attempting to convert. I am simply using this deck as a guide in my shadow work journey. I do interact with Kali in my meditations, but she is the personification I need at this time, not necessarily the Kali well-known in the Hindu faith.

The cards are incredible pieces of art, and the deck is a treasure simply in that sense.

In this deck, I do not have cards that come up regularly in my spreads, but I have a few favorites I will share. All artwork credit Jimmy Manton, photos by Katherine Elizabeth.

While the images are somewhat terrifying, especially the second card here, Chinnamasta, the messages are quite beautiful and encouraging. I have found a lot of peace and comfort through using this deck.

Blessed be.
